Kolkata-Sikkim daily flight operations to start on September 15

Siliguri: Daily flight operations from Kolkata to Pakyong in Sikkim will start from September 15.

Sikkim's first greenfield airport at Pakyong has come back on the aviation map again after it resumed flight services to Delhi from Saturday following an extended hiatus. Pakyong airport director, Rajendra Grover, said the flight operations had commenced on March 14 and continued till June. On June 15, the flight to Pakyong had been diverted to Bagdogra due to inclement weather, after which the operations were stalled.

"The Delhi-Pakyong flight services are operational from Saturday. We will also operate Kolkata-Pakyong flight services from September 15. The Delhi-Pakyong flights will operate five days a week, except on Monday and Friday. The Kolkata-Pakyong flights will be operational on all days," said Grover.

The only airline operating at the Pakyong airport, SpiceJet, resumed services two and half months after it stalled operations from June15 due to operational constraints.
