For the past many years, flyers have been demanding to connect Bhopal with Pune and Kolkata. Incidentally, the Pune flight was started on a couple of occasions in the past, but it was discontinued later, citing different reasons.
Sources said that the slot has been taken off from the schedule. "No one knows why the slot has been left out. Both these cities were important connectivity for Bhopal. This is a major setback," said sources There is a large Bengal diaspora in Bhopal, who frequently travel to Kolkata..
Passengers reacted sharply after the flight could not start. "I think there is a serious lack of political will in Bhopal for starting new flights. Officials did their best to connect Bhopal. I am surprised no political party raised its voice when slots were put on hold," said Mrinal Shrivastava, a frequent flyer.
The flight was supposed to run from Pune to Bhopal and Kolkata. This was the first time that Indigo was starting their services to connect Pune and Kolkata from Bhopal.
