Dimapur, May 9: The Assam Rifles today handed over 18.8 acres of land, currently occupied by the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School at 3rd Mile in Chumoukedima, to the Airport Authority of India (AAI) for the first phase of expansion of the Dimapur airport.
The land was handed over at a ceremony at the Dimapur airport, which was attended by Moa Pongen, Airport Director, AAI, Dimapur airport, Col KD Sharma, CO, No 2 Bn, Assam Rifles Training Centre and School, Sentiwapang Aier, Secretary (Airports, Inland Waterways, and Railways Cell), Nagaland Transport Department, Polan John, DC, Chumoukedima, M Ababe Ezung, OSD, Nagaland Transport Department, along with other officials.
Meanwhile, the officials inspected the identified area at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School. The issue relating to the transfer of the remaining areas for Phase II expansion was also discussed during the programme.
It was stated that further directives from the appropriate authorities would be required for the transfer of the remaining areas for Phase II development works.
