Mangalore: In a major haul, customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport on Monday seized 15 kilograms of saffron estimated at Rs 15 lakh from a passenger.
The arrested is Mohammed Aslam from Talangera near Kasargod. The passenger came by the 6am Air India Express to Bajpe airport.
Officials who made the seizure told TOI that the passenger had packed the saffron sachets neatly in two boxes.
The boxes evoked suspicion as contents of both looked similar while the cargo was moved through the X-ray machine.
