New Dabolim terminal to be ready by June

Panaji:  Designed for maximum passenger comfort, the new Dabolim airport passenger terminal building is 93% complete and is expected to be ready by June 2013. It will cater to four million passengers annually.
The cost of the terminal building with an area of 62,000 sq m, has increased to Rs 388.53 crore from the initially estimated figure of Rs 335 crore. The project work began in May 2010.
While the peak-hour passenger handling capacity of the existing 16,500 sq m terminal building is 700 passengers, the same figure for the new 4-floor terminal building will be 2,750 passengers.
Dabolim airport director M Suresh told TOI that with the completion of the new terminal building project, Dabolim airport will become the first airport in the country to have a multi-level car parking facility. Having six floors (two basement and four above ground), the MLCP will accommodate between 540 to 570 cars.
