Lucknow-Singapore flight from Dec 3

Lucknow: State capital will join the club of select few cities to have direct air connectivity to South East Asia on December 3 when Singapore-based Tiger Airways will begin direct flight operations between Lucknow and Singapore.

The airlines will operate three flights per week between Lucknow and Singapore—on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. The flight will arrive from Singapore at 8pm and fly back at 9pm. Sources said the budget carrier will have executive as well as business class seats.

Lucknow Airport director Suresh Chandra Hota said the authorities have planned a grand welcome for the aircraft, an 180-seat Airbus 320 from Singapore on the day. Sources said when the aircraft touches down at Amausi airport, it would be given a 'water salute'—water fired at a great height from two sides at the landing aircraft. "It's been a practice we have been following for quite some time now," said Hota.

Internationally, state capital so far has direct air connectivity only to Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Oman.
