Ground staff at Thiruvananthapuram airport call off stir

Thiruvananthapuram: The strike announced by the loading staff of AISATS, the agency in charge of ground handling operations at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, concluded on Wednesday evening with the cargo, cleaning and loading staff agreeing to the roster patterns issued by the firm.
The strike, which began on Monday midnight after AISAT declared the new roster pattern for the staff, concluded after a meeting between regional labour commissioner P K Lucas and representatives from AISATS and workers union.
Around 200 staff members from AISATS, which handles about 14 consignments every day, went on strike.
As per the new schedule, the shifts are from 7pm to 5am, 10am to 7pm and from 12 midnight to 12 noon. The workers protested against the shift from 12 midnight, saying that many of staff live in far-off places.
