TV Screens in Airport Vanish as AAI Conducts Probe

Chennai: Passengers visiting Chennai Airport will now be deprived of information about flight details and status as Airport Authority of India has removed all the TV screens as a precautionary measure.
AAI director Deepak Shahstri said this was done after one of the screens collapsed in the terminal. No one was injured in the incident but AAI is leaving no stone unturned to ensure safety of passengers.
“We have ordered an enquiry into the incident. We wanted to ascertain whether it is a freak incident or not,” Shastri said.
He said the TV screen fell down in the terminal because the plastic became brittle due to the heat.
Airport sources told Express that a total of 16 TV screens were removed inside the terminal and four on the entrance gates.
