Businessman held with fake visa at airport

Pune: The Airport police arrested a 50-year-old businessman from Ulhasnagar on late Sunday evening for attempting to fly to Dubai on a fake visa. The cops have booked an Ulhasnagar-based travel agent for issuing the visa to him.
The suspect, Rajesh Nanuram Sarangi, went to Lohegaon airport around 7.30 pm and showed his documents to the immigration staff. "The immigration officers realized he had a fake visa. Intelligence Bureau and immigration officers checked the list of persons to whom visas were issued. Sarangi's name did not feature in the list," said senior inspector Sanjay Kurundkar.
Immigration officer Maheshwar Rai of Vimannagar lodged a complaint against Sarangi.
Kurundkar said that Sarangi travels to Dubai frequently, at times six or seven times in a month. "He told us that he had taken the visa from a travel agency in Ulhasnagar. We have booked the travel agent as well. Our investigation is on," said Kurundkar.
Sarangi may have forged the visa issued to him earlier by changing dates.
