AI fined 25K for poor service

Vadodara: National carrier Air India was penalized by the district consumer disputes redressal forum of Vadodara recently for causing inconvenience to a passenger. The airline was asked to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 by the consumer forum that also pulled up the management for deficiency in service and unfair trade practice.
P V Moorjani, who was one of the passengers on the Vadodara-Delhi flight of Air India had filed a complaint against the airline in 2009.
"I had booked tickets for the flight number IC 7620 from Vadodara to Delhi. The original timing of the flight was 8.15 pm and it was to land in Delhi by 9.45 pm on January 20, 2009. I got a call at 3.15 pm on the day of the journey that the flight timing was delayed to 9.30 pm," Moorjani told TOI.
"By evening, I got SMS from Air India that the flight was further delayed and it will take off at 10.30 pm. I reached the airport by 9.30 pm where I saw that the flight timing was again changed to 11.15 pm and it finally took off at 11.30 pm. My precious hours were wasted as I reached Delhi at 1 am," Moorjani said.
