Citing rules, Indigo pilot refuses to fly

Panaji : Indigo Goa-Mumbai-Guwahati flight 813 was delayed by nearly eight hours on Tuesday at Goa international airport after the pilot of the aircraft refused to fly citing flight duty time limitations.
The flight was initially delayed due to heavy rainfall at Goa, but once permission was given for take off, the pilot, who was not identified, refused to fly citing the director general of civil aviation's flight duty time limitations rule. Local Indigo Airline officials said the pilot had exceeded the number of permitted flying hours.
Goa airport officials said the Indigo flight 813 was scheduled to depart at 2:30pm for Mumbai before going en route to Guwahati where it was scheduled to arrive at 7:25pm. A new pilot was deployed and the flight timings revised to 11pm departure from Goa and 00:15am arrival at Guwahati.
The flight had nearly 180 passengers on board all of whom had to be deboarded. Many passengers, who had connecting flights from Mumbai, were inconvinenced and while Indigo managed to accomodate some passengers on other flights, many missed their flights.
