AirAsia will not allow Samsung Galaxy Note 7 mobile phones onboard any of its flights, including its flights in India, from midnight October 17 due to safety concerns.
The prohibition applies to all flights operated by AirAsia Group -- AirAsia India, AirAsia Malaysia, AirAsia Thailand, AirAsia Indonesia, AirAsia Philippines, Malaysia AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia X and Indonesia AirAsia X.
This follows recent US Department of Transport's ban on the device+ and reports of phones catching fire+ .
Guests are not permitted to carry Galaxy Note 7 - including recalled and replacement devices - on their person, in cabin bags, in check-in baggage and as cargo, said a press release.
