After 4 days, Srinagar receives first flight

Srinagar: After remaining suspended for four consecutive days, the flight operations resumed Wednesday morning at Sheikh-ul-Alam International Airport Srinagar.

Earlier the operations were hit due to the dense fog and poor visibility. However, due to improvement in the weather conditions, the flights resumed today morning with Air India flight landing at the airport successfully.

Officials said that an Air India flight AI-448 from Leh made a safe landing today at 9:15 AM. This was followed by three more landings at the airport.

“Due to less visibility ranging from 570 – 850 meters, which according to protocol is unsafe for any kind of flight operation, the flights couldn’t operate at the airport,” the official said, adding, “For a flight to land or take off, the visibility should at least be more than 1300 meters.”
