Flight disruption causes inconvenience to travelling Kashmiris

Srinagar: The flight operations at Srinagar International Airport (SIA) continued to remain affected for the second consecutive days with most of the flights getting cancelled due to poor visibility caused by fog. On Saturday few flights could take off in contrast to Friday when all of them were cancelled.
By Saturday afternoon only four flights including two Go Air, one Vistara and one Air India flight took off from SIA to other destinations.
The cancellation of flights to and fro Kashmir had left hundreds of passengers stranded at Srinagar and other airports who claimed facing lot of inconvenience.
AT SIA, scores of the passengers were seen returning to their homes after the airport authorities announced cancellation of flights for the second consecutive day.
“My Aunt has to undergo surgery at AIIMS New Delhi but due to the flight disruption we couldn’t reach there. We had to send her money and other medical reports that the doctor had asked before conducting her surgery. It was for the second time today that my cousin had to return home from the airport after his flight got cancelled,” said Umar Ahmad, a resident of Safakadal, Srinagar.
Similarly, the passengers who are stranded at other airports claimed that the flight cancellation had added to their miseries as they ran out of cash due to the Centre’s demonization move.
