SAAC members to sit on fast against Air India’s airfare

Members of Surat Airport Action Committee (SAAC) have decided to sit on a fast for a day to protest against the double-standards of Air India (AI) management towards passengers travelling between Surat and Delhi on December 11.
SAAC members said the airfare to Delhi from Ahmedabad and Vadodara is almost 100 per cent cheaper than Surat. The passengers travelling between Delhi and Surat have to pay two different types of fares for travelling in Airbus during morning and evening hours.
After a series of representation by the airport groups and Members of Parliament (MPs) from Surat and Navsari, AI chairman and managing director (CMD) Ashwani Lohani had agreed to provide Airbus in the morning schedule between Surat and Delhi from December 1.
However, the passengers were unhappy to find during online advance bookings that the morning fare was approximately Rs3,000 more than the Airbus being operated in the evening.
