The long wait after landing

Mumbai: Mumbai: Several passengers, including a Shiv Sena MP, have raised the issue of having to wait for sometimes up to 30 minutes at a time, while coaches bring their baggage from the aeroplane to the terminal or for coaches to transport them to the terminal. Claiming that this is caused by frequent changes in parking bays, passengers have taken to social media to vent their feelings.

On November 5, passengers of Go Air flight G8-247 from Bhubaneswar landed at Mumbai airport and were kept waiting for buses that would transport them to the airport terminal for nearly 30 minutes. “The flight landed 12 minutes ago but there has been no sign of a bus to transfer us to the arrival terminal. We’re just standing here on the tarmac,” said Kandivali resident Debabrat Mishra. Mishra also contacted this paper.

A Go Air spokesperson attributed the delay to congestion at the airport. “There was a change of bay at the last moment and the buses reached in 15 minutes,” the official said.

Bandra resident Ajith Mathew, who was on an Air India flight last week faced a similar problem. “The Air India coach took us all for a tour around Mumbai airport. We were on this coach for at least 15 minutes before we were dropped at the terminal,” he said.

Shiv Sena MP from South Mumbai, Arvind Sawant, complained to the authorities after facing a similar situation on October 30, after his aircraft was asked to change bays. “This is a clear case of mismanagement. If the bay doesn’t change, then the gate will change. A menace either way,” Sawant said.
