Flight operations resume at Amritsar airport after brief suspension

Amritsar: Flight operations at Amritsar’s Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport were resumed after no suspicious material was found in the unclaimed briefcase that was found in the parking area.

However, the area outside the airport was still was under tight security as checking was on, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier this morning, flight operations were suspended after a suitcase was found lying on the ground abandoned.

CISF personnel immediately cordoned off the area and a bomb disposal squad was called to examine the suitcase.
The development comes a day after security agencies carried out a search operation near the Pathankot airbase and the Mamoon army cantonment following intelligence inputs about suspected anti-national elements in the area.

The search operation was carried out by Army soldiers, paramilitary force troopers and Punjab police personnel.
