Chances of wide-bodied aircraft operating from the Calicut International Airport appeared bleak on Thursday with the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha stating in the Lok Sabha on that the “runway is not suitable for wide-bodied aircraft operations.”
In response to an un-starred question by Mullappally Ramachandran, MP, the Minister said this assessment was arrived at after a joint inspection carried out by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on January 9 and 10, 2017.
