Modern aircraft to land at NCC Karnataka's air wing

Bangalore: The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Air Wing is a starting point for youngsters opting for a career in aviation.

From those who become Air Warriors in the Indian Air Force to those who join the civil aviation industry as pilots or cabin crew and to those who join as as operators, managers, supervisors and engineers in commercial airlines-- it is at the NCC’s Air Wing that all exposed to flying and handling aircraft controls at a young age.

The NCC Directorate, Karnataka and Goa, has decided to replace its old micro light aircraft with modern ones in a few months.

“At present, the Directorate uses the Zenair micro light aircraft for flying activities. These aircraft are about 15 years old. We will soon be getting Pipistrel Virus micro light aircraft, which is a modern state of the art micro light aircraft,” said Air Commodore C Rajeev, deputy director general, NCC Directorate of Karnataka and Goa.

According to its Slovenian manufacturer, the Virus SW 80/100 is an economic high-speed cruiser and the fastest high-wing aeroplane in its category.
