Airport darshan: Sky train for Navi Mumbai International Airport

Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO), the nodal authority for the Rs 16,000-crore green field Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), has made a new and unique provision of a sky train connectivity.
This sky train will not only transport in- and outbound passengers, but will also be a fun ride for a dekko/window to normal/usual commuters as the special train will connect two ends outside the airport. The train, which will run through the airport, will give the exclusive feel of being within the the airport premise. Mumbaikars can travel down to the city as they can only see the Santa Cruz airport from outside.
A CIDCO officer said, "Ticket and security checks in the airport will ensure that normal commuters stay inside the train.''
CIDCO MD Bhushan Gagrani, who conceived the elevated sky train link told, TOI, "Cidco will do the project, but the design has not been finalised yet.'' Gagrani, the new MD, reviewed the airport project, and incorporated the concept of a short link. The existing CST-Panvel will have a diversion at Seawood Darave towards Uran and airport passengers will get off at the Targhar railway station to board the sky train.
