Nagpur airport privatization cleared by state cabinet

Nagpur: State cabinet has cleared the proposal to invite bids for privatization of Nagpur airport, said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. He was in the city to inaugurate two cold storage units located at the airport.
"Further investment in the aviation sector is expected in coming days as talks are under way with corporate giants like Boeing, Tatas and Reliance," he said.
After the cabinet approval, Mihan India Limited (MIL), the current operator, can go ahead with inviting requests for proposals (RFPs) from the private players which have been cleared in the qualifying round. These include Essel infrastructure, IRB, GVK, GMR, Tata Realty and PNC Infrastructure. A security clearance has been issued for the all the companies except IRB as it backed out of the deal subsequently.
