Access control gates to ease staff’s entry

Pune: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has installed identification scanning machines at the city airport, allowing employees to swipe identity cards and gain entry to the terminal.
Speaking with TOI, an airport official said that with the installation of the electronic entry gates, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff posted at various gates at the airport will not have to check identity cards of the airport personnel and those employed by the airlines each time they have to enter and exit the building.
"The machines have electronic gates in the form of bars, which will only open on the tap of an identity card. As per the earlier system, the CISF staff would check the identity cards of the employees and the airline officials at the airport every time they had to make an entry or exit. The earlier process consumed time as well as tested the concentration level of the personnel," the official said.
If the identity cards turn out to be unauthentic in anyway, the bars will not open and the person holding the card will not be able to enter the airport premises.
