Air India’s maiden flight to Nanded from Amritsar takes off

Amritsar: ddressing the demand of Sikh community to provide Amritsar-Nanded route with air connectivity, Air India flagged off its maiden flight to Nanded in Maharashtra on Saturday. An Airbus A320 aircraft with 162 seats has been pressed into the service for the flight.
The flight was flagged of from Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport by Union minister for social justice and empowerment Vijay Sampla.
Normally, it takes over 46 hours to reach Nanded from Amritsar by train. However, with the beginning of this flight service, the journey time will now come down to just around two hours.
Former Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti offered 'ardas' (prayer) on the occasion, which was followed by cake-cutting ceremony.
Amritsar MP Gurjit Singh and BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Shwet Malik took credit of the beginning of the flight. Aujla boarded the flight to Nanded, which left at 10.55 am.
