Jagdalpur to be connected by air services from June 15

Raipur: Jagdalpur in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh will be connected by air services with rest of the country from June 15 this year.

Union Civil Aviation Secretary Rajiv Nayan Choubey informed Chhattisgarh Chief Secretary Ajay Singh here that the air services to be provided by Air Odisha on Raipur-Jagdalpur-Visakhapatnam sector would commence from June 15.

The Chief Secretary apprised Choubey regarding Chhattisgarh Government’s proposal  to connect Jagdalpur, Raipur, Bilaspur and Ambikapur with the Central Government’s ‘Regional Connectivity Scheme’ (RCS).

The Chief Secretary also had discussions with the Union Civil Aviation Secretary on declaring Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur as an International Airport.

Notably, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has awarded 10 routes in Chhattisgarh from various airports under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), officials informed.

Nine routes will be operated by Air Odisha and one by IndiGo Airlines.

The routes to be operated by Air Odisha are--Ambikapur-Bilaspur, Bilaspur-Ambikapur, Jagdalpur-Raipur, Jagdalpur-Vishakhapatnam, Raigarh-Raipur, Raipur-Jagdalpur, Raipur-Jharsuguda,, Raipur-Raigarh and Raipur-Utkela.

The IndiGo Airlines will operate on Raipur-Allahabad route, they informed.
