Passengers travelling by Air India Express’s Dubai-Mangaluru flight staged a protest at the Kochi airport after it was diverted to Kerala due to adverse weather conditions on Friday.
Passengers said the Air India Express Dubai - Mangaluru IX 814 flight was expected to land in Mangaluru at 4.45 am, but due to fog and poor visibility, it was diverted to Cochin International Airport (CIA) where it landed at 5.55 am.
The flight crew was replaced and after all clearances, the flight landed in Mangaluru at 11.55 am. Passengers onboard accused Air India of forcing them to sit inside the aircraft and they said even A/C was switched off.
Abdul Jabbar, one of the passengers said, “They told us that the flight will take off from Kochi within one hour. A/C was switched off.”
Most passengers were hoping to be at home for Eid and irked by the dealay, they protested on the runway.
