Air Deccan to start operations from Tata Steel, Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The passengers of the steel city will no longer have to face the ordeal of long hours of train travelling as Tata Steel has finally decided to make its airstrip available to Air Deccan for its services between Calcutta and Jamshedpur.
Managing director of Air Deccan Capt. G.R. Gopinath told The Telegraph from Bangalore: “It would take at least two months for the operation of the flight services to begin. Tata Steel has already given permission in writing to the Air Deccan to use its airport and a copy of the letter has been sent to the civil aviation department.”
According to Gopinath, a joint inspection of the airport and the existing airstrip by Air Deccan and Tata Steel would take place within 10 days. “The flight services would begin around June and it would be a daily flight because we expect several passengers for the flights between the two cities,” he added.
