CITU warns Centre on airports

New Delhi: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has warned the Government against signing of agreements with private companies for modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports next week until the tripartite committee concluded its proceedings.
Expressing shock over reports that the Government had taken a unilateral decision to hand over the airports to private companies on April 4 through signing Operations of Management and Development Agreement (OMDA) with winning bidders, CITU president M. K. Pandhe said any hasty step could lead to confrontation.
In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, the CITU recalled the agreement reached between the agitating employees of the Airport Authority of India (AAI) and the Government in February.
