No name change for airports: Govt

New Delhi: Indira Gandhi International Airport - that's how most of us know the Delhi airport and that is the reason why the private consortium given the task of running the airport wanted to name its company Indira Gandhi International Airport Limited.
However, the government would have none of it.Though Delhi and Mumbai airports will soon have new operators, the government has made it clear by not letting them name their company Indira Gandhi International Airport Limited that they will not stand for a name change.
Sources have told the TV18 network that the government did not want to associate Indira Gandhi's name with any company for it was worried that the GMR group would add its name to the airport.
The same was true for the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport in Mumbai, being developed by the GVK consortium.
