SC notice on Kandahar hijack accused

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notice on a Kashmiri woman's petition alleging the Indian authorities illegally detained her two brothers after arresting them in Kathmandu following the hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane to Kandahar in December 1999.
A bench of judges B.N. Agrawal and A.K. Mathur issued notice to the home and external affairs ministries and the Delhi Police on a petition filed by Rouquaiya, who alleged her brothers Mushtaq Ahmad Rah and Mohammad Shafi Rah were arrested by the Nepalese police in August 2000 and handed over to the Indian authorities as they were suspected to be involved in the hijacking. The petitioner said since then her 75-year-old father had been running from pillar to post to find out the whereabouts of his sons.
