Amausi airport to be revamped

Lucknow: Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said here on Sunday the airport in Lucknow was among the top 10 airports out of 35 non-metro airports chosen for modernisation on a priority basis.
Work on modernisation of Amausi airport would commence in 2007 and would be completed within a year, he added.
Patel said that the Amausi airport in Lucknow was a ‘low density airport’ and its connectivity with various cities in various parts of the world would be increased over a period of time.
Patel said the Civil Aviation Ministry was working on a novel concept of “regional feeder” airlines that would enable 80-seater capacity aircraft or those with less passenger load capacity to fly to Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Kanpur in future.
