AAI to sell 49% in pilot school

New Delhi: Praful Patel is heading for homeground Gondia with his latest reforms initiative in airline industry. The civil aviation ministry is planning to allow overseas investors to buy up to 49% stake in a new pilot training institute being set up in Patel's constituency Gondia.
Bids have been invited from global players in pilot training arena for setting up a JV with Airports Authority of India for the institute — which will entail an investment of around Rs 380 crore.
Sources said government has received nine expressions of interest from players like Boeing, Airbus, Alteon and CAE. The move, sources said, is also an attempt to tide over the technical hurdle that AAI faced when it first decided to go alone with Gondia pilot training institute.
