Airfare hike a cruel act, says MP

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI leader Pannyan Raveendran MP has termed the hike in airfare effected by various flight operators, including Air India in the Gulf countries as a cruelty towards the non-resident Indians.
Addressing newspersons here on Tuesday, he said that the flight charges in the Gulf sector had now doubled. Now the ticket charges to Gulf destinations had become much higher than that for London or other European countries, he alleged.
He said that Air India had not kept its word to increase the number of flights during the season. These issues would be brought to the notice of the Prime Minister, Aviation Minister and NRI affairs Minister, he said.
