FedEx pilots union approve a labor agreement

A council of FedEx Corp.'s pilots union Friday approved a tentative labor agreement that was reached with the largest air-cargo airline late last month and recommended that members ratify the contract.
The agreement was reached Aug. 26 between management of FedEx and the Air Line Pilots Association, which represents about 4,700 company pilots, after almost 30 months of talks.
The union's leadership recommended that members approve the contract in voting that is scheduled to begin Sept. 18 and end Oct. 17. The new agreement provides "industry-leading pay," improved retirement benefits and stronger work rules, the association said in a statement. Specific terms weren't released.
