Bangalore: Allaying fears about shortage of pilots at Indian Air Force (IAF) due to poaching by private airliners, Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi today said the problem was not serious.
"We have some shortage, but it is not a serious problem. We are increasing the rate of induction of pilots at IAF. We will also train a higher number of pilots," he said.
IAF sources say IAF pilots having Airline Transport Pilot License with experience in two-engine aircraft, are most sought-after by civilian airlines, especially since the introduction of 'open sky' policy by the government.
