Kerala wants airfare reduced in Gulf sector

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government was putting pressure on the Centre to persuade Air India and Indian Airlines to reduce the fare in the Gulf sector, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said here today.
Replying to a calling attention motion by A P Anil Kumar (Cong) on the problems being faced by Keralites in the Gulf, particularly the exorbitant fare hike effected by airlines, he said the Government has taken up the issue very seriously.
Members of Parliament from the state has also requested the Centre to intervene in the issue.
