Mangalore international airport by October

Belgaum: Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has said the AAI (Airports Authority of India) is committed to upgrading and developing airports in Karnataka, including those in Belgaum and Hubli, "once the state government provides the required land for such upgradation".
Addressing the media here on Wednesday night, Mr Patel urged the State government to 'clear' the land for the development of the airports. "The AAI will not only increase the length of runway to 7500 feet in Belgaum but will also establish a state-of-the-art terminal here,'' he said, and added: "This is our commitment."' He said 370 acres was required at Sambra for improving the airport here. It would make possible landing of bigger planes.
He further said the first international flight from Mangalore would take off in the first week of October.
