SAA to revamp flights to India

South African Airways (SAA) says it is awaiting the approval of the licence for its low-cost carrier amid protests from its domestic competitors that there is no need for another state-funded airline.
Refusing to reveal details, SAA GM for business development Nomfanelo Magwentshu said plans were at an advanced stage to launch the new airline in November.
But industry players said the new entrant would be called Mango.com, and that it would use four of SAA’s Boeing 737-800s.
Government already owns SAA and SA Express.
SAA said the domestic market had grown about 30% since the advent of the first low-cost carrier in the industry five years ago and it had managed to get only 5% of that market.
SAA yesterday announced plans to revamp flights to major European cities, Sao Paulo, North America, India, Australia and other parts of Africa.
