Pilot student from India killed in car crash

Lake Worth, Florida, US: A 19-year-old woman who came here from India to learn how to fly was killed in a car accident that also injured five of her flight school classmates.
Sonam Gaikwad, who was studying to be a pilot at Kemper Aviation, joined a group of friends for dinner at Rosalita's Tex-Mex Grill on Tuesday night. Afterward, six of them piled into a 1992 Honda Civic with five seat belts. But only one person, driver Ganesh Nagraj, 23, was using it, said Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Tim Frith.
And when Nagraj lost control north on Congress approaching Sixth Avenue South around midnight, the car spun into the median and slammed trunk-first into a concrete pole, killing Gaikwad.
The other four passengers were ejected and taken to Delray Medical Center with serious injuries.
Vikas Rajput, 20, Gauran Aggarwal, 19, Rashmi Meshram, 21 and Dhanoshree Ghonmode, 23 are all expected to recover.
The students came to the United States between four and six months ago to take the professional pilot training course for Indian students.
Officials at Kemper in suburban Lantana and India would not comment.
