Ruckus at Ahmedabad airport over delayed flight

Ahmedabad: More than 300 passengers of an Air-India flight (AI 120) from London to Ahmedabad to Mumbai were stranded after the plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Mumbai airport due a technical fault.
Scheduled to arrive at 5.45 am on Monday, the flight finally arrived at around 8 pm.
Early in the day, angry relatives went on a rampage and ransacked the A-I office at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, saying officials failed to give them satisfactory answers about the delay and also because of lack of facilities.
The only answer the got was that another plane was being arranged to bring the stranded passengers to Ahmedabad.
When contacted, A-I Regional Manager Pankaj Bhargav said, “One of the four engines of the plane developed a snag and therefore according to standard operating procedure, the pilot had to land the plane at Mumbai as it is our main base.”
