Will help develop Indian aerospace industry: Bayman

Scott Bayman, the head of GE in India, talked up India's economic potential during a speech at the prestigious Asia Society in New York. Giving full marks to political and popular commitment to economic liberalization in the country. Bayman chided critics and doubters, urging them to look at India as a glass half full and filling up rather than half empty and running out.
There's no cap on GE's investment in India, said Scott Bayman, the President and CEO of GE India, in an interview after his speech at New York's Asia Society. With big orders in hand for the supply of jet engines to Indian carriers, the company wants to expand the local supply base for engine maintenance and repair as well as components. But finding local suppliers won?t be easy.
President & CEO, GE India, Scott Bayman told SAW, "The aviation industry outside of HAL really hasn?t evolved a lot in India. So, I think that I know we?ve been working with other aerospace companies and with organizations such as CII to identify companies in India, that have the requisite technical skills and yet will have to be helped along, to develop for the aerospace industry."
