New Delhi: Allaying fears of mid-air collisions, Government today said Indian airports were technically equipped to prevent any such disaster.
"Do not worry due to any congestion in skies. I am giving a responsible answer in the House," Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said replying to supplementaries during Question Hour.
Asked by members whether there have been near misses between aircraft in crowded skies, Patel said barring human error, technological advancements in the field would ensure safety of air passengers.
He said human errors can take place anywhere in the world.
The Minister said to avoid air proximity incidents due to fatigue, detailed flight time and duty time limitations have been specified by the Director General of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India for pilots.
He said the rate of air proximity incidents per one lakh movements (when the aircraft had come in close proximity due to breakdown of stand distance separation) stood at 2.506 in 2005 and 2.559 in 2006.
