RAK Airways says it will take to the air in May

Ras Al Khaimah: RAK Airways will start flying in May in accordance with a final decision by the board of directors, said a top official.
The airline will begin operations with two Boeing 757-200 aircraft which have been leased from Iberia, the national carrier of Spain.
Shaikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi added that the launch time was agreed upon with the board of directors, who provided the earlier CEO with all the necessary authority to launch operations on time.
But confusion over the launch date persisted. It was first declared that operations would begin in late January. They were then postponed to February.
Later in the middle of February it was announced that the launch would take place in April. But this also proved to be unsuccessful. The board of directors then decided to change the airline's CEO and to establish a new deadline for the launch. RAK Airways will start flying once its traffic rights to India and Iran are obtained.
The airline would undertake flights to Mumbai, Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Bangalore in India and Tehran, Isfahan and Bandar Abbas in Iran in the first phase of operations.
