AAI contract employee injured in fire near runway

Indore: A contract employee of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) was seriously injured after dry grass near the runway at the Devi Ahilyabai Airport here caught fire today, a senior airport official said.
The fire was observed in the afternoon nearly 2,000 feet away from the D-4 runway towards the airport boundary wall and due to the winds it spread wildly, Indore Airport Director R K Singh told PTI.
However, the exact cause of fire is still not known and an internal probe has been ordered, Singh said.
Soon three fire tenders of the airport were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control in a short span of time, he said, adding two fire tenders from the district fire control office were also called in as a precautionary measure.
