New Delhi: A hydraulic problem in AI 349 turned into a scary moment for those on board and a long wait for others scheduled to fly in and out of Delhi on Monday morning.
With just the secondary runway in use during the peak hours in the morning, flyers experienced long delays. About 100 flights were delayed by 1-3 hours till afternoon and situation improved marginally only, till evening. Air Deccan had to reschedule most of its morning flights and flights waiting to take off from other destinations for Delhi were delayed by an hour to avoid air congestion over Delhi.
A stark reminder of the foggy winter days, the airport was packed with passengers who were unaware of the changed schedules. Many reached the airport an hour before scheduled departure only to be told that their flights had been delayed.
Incoming passengers were also inconvenienced as till late evening, flights were delayed by over 2-3 hours.
