Bruised Boeing 737 finally ‘takes off’

After six days of drama, the trailer carrying the dismantled Air Sahara Boeing 737 has finally left for an unknown destination.
At 1 pm, the trailer’s owner, UTC Carriers, moved the aircraft following continued complaints from locals on WT Patil Marg in Chembur.
And local shopkeepers are happy. Parminder Singh, who owns Laxmi Medical, that was overshadowed by the aircraft, said:“ Sales had gone down during the last six days. But now that the plane has been moved, my shop is visible again. I expect sales to pick up again.”
Ravi Aggarwal, proprietor of UTC Carriers, said: “We moved the aircraft after receiving orders from the new owner. However, I do not have the permission to disclose his identity or where the plane will be taken.”
On Thursday, HT had reported that Mumbai-based industrialist Manpreet Singh had claimed of on-going negotiations to buy the fuselage of the aircraft. The identity of the aircraft’s new owner, however, remains shrouded in mystery.
