Cargo godowns at airport demanded

Nagpur: Domestic airlines have demanded cargo godowns, additional aircraft parking bays and an area for washing and minor maintenance of planes at the Nagpur airport. This is in addition to improved facilities in the terminal building.
The wishlist was put forth by airline representatives in a meeting convened by Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) in Mumbai last week. MADC is set to take over the airport operations in a partnership with the Airports Authority of India. This was the first such meeting between MADC and the air-lines and attended by MADC managing director R C Sinha, Nagpur airport director S N Borkar and officials from Indian, Indigo and Jet Airways. Officials from other airlines operating to Nagpur were not present.
According to a MADC official, the airlines demanded more parking bays including one for washing planes.
However an another official said the apron area in the airport can be put to a better use by not having a bay for washing planes.
Borkar said the with the expansion of terminal building there will be more space for check in counters. The airport management is also working towards segregation of domestic and international movement in the terminal building.
