Carriers offer Asian packages to woo expatriate passengers

Airlines have come out with special packages for holidays in Asia, including those tailor-made for Indians who like to touch base with their relatives back home and have a leisure trip.
SriLankan Airlines, for instance, has invited Qatar residents to experience Asia, with its blend of pristine beaches, wildlife sanctuaries and lush tropical forests, ancient cities, abundant shopping, water sports and exotic Asian cuisine.
According to industry sources, Asia is a popular tourist hotspot for Middle Eastern travellers, serving up a varied cocktail of activities and interests.
For those with a taste for adventure, the region is fast becoming popular for water sports, ranging from wind surfing and water skiing in the Indian Ocean with well developed supporting facilities, to mountain biking and hiking, he pointed out.
“Each destination is unique but shares a distinctly Asian culture, traditions and flavour, from India and Sri Lanka, right across to the Far East,” said SriLankan Airlines manager in Qatar, Lakshman Weerasooriya.
Similarly, Indian airline passengers could avail of a special deal to visit Far Eastern destinations by paying a “small additional” amount.
