US-based Continental Airlines is aiming for a 1 October 2007 (previously 30 October 2007) launch for its new flights to Mumbai* (Bombay), India. The airline plans to operate four non-stop flights per week from New York (Newark), US, increasing the frequency to daily flights from 28 October 2007. A Boeing 777-200 aircraft will be operated on the route. Continental has operated non-stop New York-Delhi flights since 2005.
The airline cited a positive market response as the reason for the proposed launch date revision.
Continental is also adding new transatlantic flights between New York and Athens, Greece in June 2007 and has applied to serve London's Heathrow Airport from Houston, Texas, US in 2008.
