Mumbai: A city court granted bail to Assisstant Police Inspector Tushar Kadam, arrested for his alleged role in the Rs 13.47 crore e-ticketing scam of private carrier Kingfisher Airlines.
Kadam, who has put in around 14 years of service, was accused of knowingly travelling on fraudulantly obtained tickets while investigating cases. Posted at Kherwadi police station in suburban Mumbai, he was arrested on April 9 by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police.
He had booked the air-tickets after obtaining confidential credit card data from main scam accused, Sameer Kasam Shaikh, who is said to be his informer. Shaikh, along with others, had allegedly purchased tickets of Kingfisher Airlines using credit card details procured illegally through hotels and malls. Kadam has been charged under IPC sections 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and 212 (harbouring an offender).
