Lockheed Martin mulls tech tie-up with Wipro

Bangalore: The $40-billion defence and aerospace major Lockheed Martin is in talks with Indian IT major Wipro Technologies for a technical alliance , as it goes about tapping the growing Indian defence market.
According to sources, Lockheed Martin is in the race to meet C4ISR-related requirements of the India Air Force (IAF). The C4ISR programme integrates data and information sources on a single network platform during any kind of combat situation . Here, Wipro is likely to play a key role as a technology solutions provider.
Sources said that talks are still in the early stages - there is no clarity on the final outcome of the possible alliance and the value of the deal.
Wipro Technologies has a strong focus on the aviation segment with solutions in the areas of avionics, navigation, communications , product lifecycle management and its strength lies in the space of embedded and product engineering segment.
